We Own a House?!

We own a house! We - bought - a - house! We're still in shock but it feels terrific. Closing went very smoothly yesterday. We met Bob, our realtor, at the house at noon for our final walk through. Everything was cleared out and pretty clean. They even left us some curtains, a mop, shower curtain and plunger - how sweet!

Then at 1 we went to closing and it took about an hour. Amy made cookies for everyone involved. The only snag we ran into was that our water had been turned off so we had to call the water company to come turn it back on. First they told us it would be a week till anybody would come to the house but we talked them into coming out right away.

Last night we picked up Amy's car from the garage after inspection and then we cleaned the new house a little. We just can't believe it is really ours! We ran some cookies over to our mortgage guy, Todd, too.

So now we're getting overwhelmed with thoughts of vacation. We're in the middle of laundry and packing right now. Our flight leaves tomorrow night for Athens and then Tuesday we fly to London. Can't wait!

A Change for the Better

Peter got a call from our realtor on Friday. Apparently our sellers are now able to close in May so we're taking them up on the offer! We are now closing on May 20th (about 3 weeks earlier than expected). We leave for Europe on May 22nd and return on the 31st. THEN we get to clean and paint our new house. Yay!

We're pretty excited about this turn of events. It means we pay less pre-paid interest since we are now making settlement closer to the end of the month than we would have in June. Plus we can now take 2 weeks to clean, paint, have the carpets steamed and move some smaller things in and still move a week earlier than we originally planned. Awesome.

Now if only we could find a dog...
