Family Portrait

Yesterday was a pretty exciting day here in PA. Democratic Primary Election Day. Although not unexpected, 50% of those polled in the Jones household find it disappointing that Obama did not win. Ah well. On to Indiana.

Amy tried a new recipe last night - and kid friendly too! So if we had any kids, they could have helped to make it. Even though we consider Kenny to be our "baby", he's not so much helpful in the kitchen. Anyway, the recipe was cheesy volcano meatball sandwiches. The meatballs each had a cheddar cheese cube inside of them. They turned out well and we'll be enjoying them as leftovers tonight!

Because we had too much time on our hands last night, we took a few family portraits. As you can see, Kenny is thrilled. Enjoy!

More "New" Furniture

Not much new to report. We bought a few more pieces of living room furniture. Coffee table, end tables and TV stand. See below.

This weekend Amy tried her hand at staining. Peter had an unfinished microwave stand that we want to repurpose as a foyer table. See below.

Last Friday we had a date night! It doesn't happen all too often but we're trying to make a habit of it. We got pizza and rented "Juno". Both were excellent.

And finally, Kenny found a new spot to nap. In the laundry basket amongst our dirty sheets.

Tonight we'll volunteer at the cat shelter, as usual. Oh - an update on our dog search. The two little girls we were looking at adopting have both been adopted by other families. While we're disappointed, we are so happy that these dogs found good homes. We're still debating whether we should adopt a dog or another cat but we're going to try to stop looking till after we move. Easier said than done. Have a good week!

New Furniture

While out and about today we stopped to check out Sofas Unlimited... and ended up buying living room furniture! Tomorrow we'll go back to finalize the sale but here's a picture. We're buying a sofa and loveseat in the color "thyme". It'll take about 6 weeks to ship to the store and they said they're happy to hold onto them till we're ready for them to deliver to our new home (free delivery too, by the way). Good news all around :)

Amy's parents left today for 2 weeks in Punta Cana. We're both a little jealous. Wish we could have gone too but only 36 more days left doing the paper route and then 4 days after that we're on our way to Athens and London. Huzzah!

And here are some pictures of Kenny too, for good measure. Amy finally got around to playing with her black and white setting. Enjoy!

A Change for the Better

Peter got a call from our realtor on Friday. Apparently our sellers are now able to close in May so we're taking them up on the offer! We are now closing on May 20th (about 3 weeks earlier than expected). We leave for Europe on May 22nd and return on the 31st. THEN we get to clean and paint our new house. Yay!

We're pretty excited about this turn of events. It means we pay less pre-paid interest since we are now making settlement closer to the end of the month than we would have in June. Plus we can now take 2 weeks to clean, paint, have the carpets steamed and move some smaller things in and still move a week earlier than we originally planned. Awesome.

Now if only we could find a dog...

New Do

What a busy week (but recently they've all seemed busy). Monday Peter had the day off and had a cavity filled. Just the way he wanted to spend the day! Then we volunteered at the cat shelter as usual. Still no word from the shelter regarding Trudy so... we wait some more.

Tuesday Amy was in charge of staff devotions at work and it went pretty well. Seeing as how the role of executive director at her work just passed from one person to another and how evident God's hand has been in her own life, Amy concentrated on Jeremiah 29:11 and God's plan. Then Tuesday evening we gave away our couch to a college student from Messiah. It was a hand-me-down couch so we figured we'd pass along the blessing to someone else :) We're planning to buy new living furniture after we move. For now, we still have the futon to sit on. Don't worry - we're not watching TV from the floor.

Wednesday Amy's Dad visited on his way home from visiting Amy's Gram. We had dinner and drove him by the townhouse and of course made our usual trip to Cornerstone Coffeehouse. Good times all around. Thursday we enjoyed a few new TV shows after nearly 5 months of re-runs. Hallelujah! And The Office is back next Thursday :)

Yesterday Peter played his drums at Ignite. Amy stayed home because she had a haircut scheduled (see below!) and did a few things around the house. Today we slept in after the paper route (only 44 more days to go... we decided to bump up our last day a little bit). We went out to lunch and did a little shopping. Amy made a nice baked pasta for dinner and we watched Hairspray. Next we're going to watch August Rush.

Hopefully tomorrow we can find some time to rest. The Kenny picture below we call "Grill Cat". He loves to lay on our radiator when it's warm.

Agape!
