We Own a House?!

We own a house! We - bought - a - house! We're still in shock but it feels terrific. Closing went very smoothly yesterday. We met Bob, our realtor, at the house at noon for our final walk through. Everything was cleared out and pretty clean. They even left us some curtains, a mop, shower curtain and plunger - how sweet!

Then at 1 we went to closing and it took about an hour. Amy made cookies for everyone involved. The only snag we ran into was that our water had been turned off so we had to call the water company to come turn it back on. First they told us it would be a week till anybody would come to the house but we talked them into coming out right away.

Last night we picked up Amy's car from the garage after inspection and then we cleaned the new house a little. We just can't believe it is really ours! We ran some cookies over to our mortgage guy, Todd, too.

So now we're getting overwhelmed with thoughts of vacation. We're in the middle of laundry and packing right now. Our flight leaves tomorrow night for Athens and then Tuesday we fly to London. Can't wait!

Getting Our Greek On

We went to the yearly Greek Festival at the local Greek Orthodox Church this morning with our friends Chris and Michelle. Good food, good music, good fun. We split a chicken oreganato dinner (chicken broiled and basted with a marinade of oil, oregano and tomato sauce) with rice pilaf, green beans & carrots and Greek salad. Yummy! We brought home some loukoumades (golden fried pastry puffs topped with honey syrup and dusted with cinnamon and walnuts) for our small group meeting tomorrow too.

After stuffing ourselves silly we went to Target to buy last minute travel needs and cleaning supplies for the house. We're trying to go green with Method cleaning products. We borrowed huge luggage from Chris and Michelle and started packing today. Exciting! We leave in 5 days. Unbelievable.

We watched "I Am Legend" tonight. Not quite what we expected but very good. Had another nice meal too - homemade meatloaf, smashed potatoes from scratch and mixed veggies. Comfort food, to be sure.

So, other than our countdowns, not much else exciting going on :)

As promised...

Birthday Pictures!

We spent Sunday morning at the ER. Not nearly as exciting as it sounds. Amy couldn't sleep through the pain in her knee. No blood clots, nothing is broken or dislocated. It is probably muscular and just needs time to heal. Amy is already feeling much better and continues to take it easy. The pic below is a Wonder Woman pose, by the way (and yes, one bracelet reads "Fall Risk").

We celebrated another small group birthday - Melinda - on Monday evening. It's always nice to spend time with friends. Even nicer when you don't have to leave the party early because you need to wake up at 2:30 every morning. Can you tell we don't miss the paper route AT ALL?

We scheduled a carpet cleaning for the new house the day after closing. It makes buying a house and moving seem very real. Less than 2 weeks to go! And if that weren't enough to make it seem real, we're jumping through mortgage hoops now too. Fun, fun.

Happy Wednesday!
