Oh to still be on vacation...

We've waited to post about vacation because if we post about it... that means it really is over. And that makes us very sad.

We had a wonderful time at the OBX with Amy's family. We hit the beach, did a little shopping, took our nieces to see "Sleeping Beauty" and ate a TON of great food. It was heavenly to get away from work for an entire week! The cats survived quite well without us (they had great babysitters).

Nothing much new to report. We had a 2nd radon test done on the house after we found out that our neighbor had installed a mitigation system in the Spring. It turns out because of his sytem our levels went down and we no longer need a system of our own!

We're aiming to install a storm door soon. It'll be nice to be able to leave our front door open to let in the Autumn sun! The cats will love it.

Last Sunday each Sunday school class officially moved up to the next grade. Most teachers keep the same group of kids all the way through to 5th grade. We moved up with our now first grade girls but because the incoming K girls class was so large we took 2 of them too. Last week we had 6 girls and it was a whole lot of fun.

Alright, that's all there is to tell. Stay tuned...

What we've been up to...

We need to stop waiting for something big and interesting to happen before we write another blog entry. Life has settled into a nice predictability and we're not complaining.

What happened last week? Peter managed the cat shelter by himself Monday because Amy wasn't feeling well.

Tuesday Amy had devotions at work and was scheduled to bring in snack for break too. After all the baking for the housewarming - she phoned in snack with some help from Weis *hangs head in shame*. Peter went out with the boys for the evening to play manly games at Messiah.

Wednesday we were going to take Panera to Messiah for a picnic but it rained so we picniced on the living room floor, then went shopping for new swim trunks for Peter. Nobody has swimwear any more! Stores are preparing for back to school already. We found a sweet suit (that was not an XXL) for only $9 at Aero. Amy was thrilled.

Thursday we bought a flower box, soil and miracle grow to plant some flowers we received at the housewarming. They look awesome on the front porch. We bought some beach supplies at Target too (and a new clutch purse for Amy - it was necessary).
Saturday we hung out with our small group (after sleeping till noon!). The boys hit the driving range and the ladies picked up "21" and "No Reservations". We ate pizza and watched "21". Peter and I watched NR later. Both ok movies - not particularly excellent but worth seeing.

Sunday we taught Sunday school, went to church, then headed to Chris and Michelle's to help paint the nursery. It took a little longer than expected but it turned out really nice. I believe the color is called "Nectarine Fizz".

This week Amy had a workshop at Roxbury camp Monday and Tuesday. She felt fine each day but was sick each night so yesterday we went to the Dr. It seems to be a bug and not food poisoning and last night was pleasantly uneventful so we're assuming she's on the mend. We don't need to bring a bug on vacation! Peter got a haircut and Amy got a pedicure last night. We're almost ready for vacation. More packing tonight and we're ready to go!

Housewarming

What a weekend! Amy's friend Nicole stayed all weekend. We saw "The Dark Knight" Saturday morning. We were very disappointed to learn that our favorite theatre had closed. We were just there to see "Get Smart" last week and had no idea it would be our last time there. Back to Batman - it was fantastic. Go see it.

Nicole and Amy spent the majority of the day baking. On the menu: pumpkin-spice frosted snack cake, molten chocolate surprise, peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chunk cookies, chocolate truffle pie, chocolate chunk banana bread and potato donuts. Yum-O! After all that baking, we decided going for icecream would be a fantastic idea.

Sunday we taught Sunday school and then finished setting up for the party. We had 42 people all together. Fun times! Everyone seemed to have a good time and we had fun showing the place off. We were just so blessed to have so many friends and family around at one time. That hasn't happened since the wedding.

Enjoy the pictures.

We miss you...

It has been nearly 2 weeks since our last post. We do apologize. It was our intention to write at least a couple times per week when we started this thing. Somehow it just didn't happen last week. We can't even really say that we've been all that busy. Here's a quick recap:

7/5 - Saw "Wall*E" and "Prince Caspian" at the Drive-In (Amy slept through "Prince Caspian")
7/9 - Amy had lunch with a friend at Messiah
7/10 - Had friends (and their puppy) over for a nice dinner
7/11 - Pizza and game night at same friend's house
7/12 - Amy went baby shower shopping with a friend
7/13 - Baby shower at church
7/15 - Our 2nd couples counseling session (don't worry - we're ok!)
7/16 - Amy went to a Mary Kay pedicure party
7/17 - Saw "Get Smart"

And tonight we had dinner and Amy made chocolate drop cookies - yum! We also finally hung some things on the wall in the living room. A friend of ours (see "Ben" blog to your right) takes sensational pictures so we bought two of them to frame. They really make the house feel like home. One picture is a sunset over Messiah College and the other is Peter's former band Pagoda. Good times.

Not much else going on. We're counting the days till our OBX vacation (3 weeks tomorrow!). The kids are doing well. They are interacting more and that usually translates to Kenny chasing Nutmeg all over the house and eventually cornering her under something and staring her down. So far - no blood. All is well.

We'll do our best to keep up with the blogging but we can't promise it will get more exciting. At least you'll get vacation pics next month...

Happy 4th!

Thursday Tim and Jeff spent the night. Friday we made our pilgrimage to Jared and Juliane's. Fun times. Today we painted our 3rd bedroom "Optimistic Yellow". Love it!

The Kids

Nutmeg is adjusting fairly well. She hides a lot but she likes to explore too. We worry that she's not getting enough to eat but she knows where the food is and she'll eat when she's hungry enough. She and Kenny are still getting along great!

Enjoy the pics and video.

Life

Last night we went to the Octorara High School Relay for Life. Amy's Mom and Pop-pop are cancer survivors. We really enjoy going every year. It's a great time to reflect on everything we are thankful for and to get inspired with hope and faith. Good times!

This morning we brought Nutmeg home. She is doing fairly well. She is painfully shy so she's been hiding under various beds all day. The good news is that she and Kenny have hiden under the same bad already - at the same time! Kenny didn't even notice Nutmeg was in the room when we first introduced them. So far so good.
